Paddle For Hope's main event is a four-person teams relay race, in recognition of the fact that family and peer support is integral to fighting and beating cancer, and that physical exercise is an essential part of rehabilitation.
To join in the Paddle For Hope you don't need to be an experienced paddler. Just follow these four easy steps...
1. Invite three mates to join your team
They might be workmates, family, friends, people from your gym or strangers - it doesn't matter who, so long as on the day you're a team of four.
2. ENTER your team and start fundraising
By emailing all your friends and family, asking them to sponsor you, you are helping to reach our total event goal of $20K - supporting PINC & STEEL to help New Zealanders affected by cancer get back on their feet, helping The WELLer Network educate young people about breast cancer prevention and SeaCleaners to remove rubbish from our seas.
3. Find a board, paddle & crazy pink team uniform
You'll only need one board and paddle per team. Buy one, borrow one off a mate or our event sponsors (just check this box when registering, and we'll have it ready at the event for you).
4. Learn to SUP
While the 700m relay course is suitable for beginners, it's always good to have a few skills under your belt to help give you an edge on the competition! We've arranged free SUP have-a-go lessons in the leadup to the event - see details here. Or you can contact one of our Starboard SUP partners to book a lesson
